CELEBRATING WOMEN by Carol Browne

CELEBRATING WOMEN by Carol Browne

March is Women’s History Month, an event that can be traced back to 1911 when the first International Women’s Day (March 8th) was initiated in the USA. In 1981 Congress authorised the President of the USA to proclaim that the week beginning 7th March should be Women’s History Week. The National Women's History Project subsequently petitioned Congress which led to the month of March 1987 being designated as Women's History Month. Congress continued to pass annual resolutions requesting the president to make a proclamation to this effect and this has continued down the years.

This month is celebrated in a variety of ways, from demonstrations of respect, love and admiration for women, to acknowledgement of their political, historical and social achievements and contributions. It is also a time to speak out for women’s rights, to bring to light the struggles many women face now and to honour those they have overcome in the past. As we are becoming more and more aware of the roles women have played throughout history, it is fitting that we remember the stories of Holocaust survivors like Krystyna Porsz, who are such powerful examples of the resilience of the human spirit and the endurance of women in particular. If, like Krystyna, you were just 18 years old, your country was invaded and your family threatened, what would you do to survive? Being Krystyna is one woman's story of surviving horror and loss in Poland during World War II. It’s a story with lessons still relevant to us today. To celebrate Women’s History Month with a beverage appropriate to the era, why not try a recipe for a Champagne Cocktail that dates back to World War II?

Champagne Cocktail
½ oz (15ml) ginger liqueur
½ oz (15ml) blackcurrant liqueur

Champagne Wartime Britain was cut off from supplies of fruits like oranges but people were able to grow an abundance of blackcurrants in their own gardens and allotments. Would you believe that these tiny fruits contain vitamins B5, B6, B1, iron, copper, calcium, phosphorus, manganese, magnesium, and potassium, as well as humungous amounts of vitamin C? Ginger is also very beneficial for the health.

And champagne is…well, delicious. Bottoms up! Here's a glimpse into the tough life of a strong woman I admire.

It’s 2012, the year of the London Olympics, and for young Polish immigrant Agnieszka, visiting fellow countrywoman Krystyna in a Peterborough care home is a simple act of kindness. However, the meeting proves to be the beginning of a life-changing experience. Krystyna’s stories about the past are not memories of the good old days but recollections of war-ravaged Europe: The Warsaw Ghetto, Pawiak Prison, Ravensbrück Concentration Camp, and the death march to freedom. The losses and ordeals Krystyna suffered and what she had to do to survive, these are horrors Agnieszka must confront when she volunteers to be Krystyna’s biographer. Will Agnieszka find a way to accomplish her task, and, in this harrowing story of survival, what is the message for us today? Buy Links Dilliebooks - Amazon UK - Amazon US

Annie did as he wanted. She got in the middle so he would have room to position himself any way he wanted. Nothing was going to stop them now. Ram got on the bed and moved on top of her. He leaned on his forearms keeping his weight off her and fencing her in so she couldn’t escape.

“I’ve got you now, Annie, and I’m never letting you go.” Ram whispered in her ear. His hot breath hitting her made goosebumps rise and she writhed with need. It took almost nothing on his part to turn her on.

“Take me, I’m yours.” Trite? Maybe, but also oh so true.

Lowering his chest to where his body touched hers, his mouth claimed hers in a deep kiss where his tongue licked and tasted every nook and cranny of her mouth. Heat seemed to emanate from him, more than she had expected. Annie had heard many shifters ran hot, but Ram was smoking.

His chest rumbled either with desire or the needs of his beast. It made her wonder for the hundredth time what that beast was. Rare? Without a doubt, but what could possibly justify this level of identity safeguarding? Ram began to work his way down her body licking and nipping, causing the ability to form clear thoughts to leave her.

By the time he made it to the space between her thighs, Annie was a primitive creature feeling only the pleasure he gave her. The sounds she made were animalistic as she spread her legs wide and arched up toward him. Her fingers were twisted in his hair, holding him in place.

“More.” She grunted and groaned.

Ram slid one of his large hands under her ass and cupped her cheeks, tilting her up slightly. The position opened her up further to him. With his other hand, he slid a finger into her hot, wet pussy even as his tongue worked her clit. He added a second finger and finally a third to stretch and prepare her.

When she’s not out hunting rogue vampires and werewolves, you can find Crystal Dawn out exploring the galaxy. She can do it all without ever leaving her computer. She kicks ass, takes names, and puts it all down for the enjoyment of her readers. At least that’s what I think she told me.

Writing came as a natural outlet for her overly creative mind. The start of her stories is the easy part. Finishing them is a little harder when all the stories are in there trying to get out.

She loves reading, chocolate, fine sweet wine, and traveling among a large list of pursuits. Her favorite people, after her family and close friends, are her readers who she says are some of the most wonderful people in this galaxy and the next.

His heart pounding, and his senses on high alert, Atreides took her in his arms and kissed her soundly. With a soft sigh, her mouth opened to him as his hands stroked her back, pressing her trembling body to his. He then pushed her against the green wall, his caresses becoming frantic. His fingers inched under the hem of her shirt, pulling the fabric out, freeing her skin to his touch. Like a fever, his desire grew and swelled, leaving him finally breathless.

She moaned when his hands skimmed the side of her breast. The lace of her bra was a barrier he didn’t care for, and his finger hooked underneath the elastic, moving it over the swell of her breast. Her softness filled his hand, and it made him groan in her mouth. He played with her nipple and was rewarded by her short gasp when he pinched the taut nub. His other hand followed a path down her navel, then slipped inside her jeans, brushing her over her panties. She pushed against his hand, and that was all the invitation he needed to lower the fabric and search for the warmth of her core. Ariel was ready for him, and he let his finger hover over her folds before pushing inside her. Her cry of pleasure sent him into a frenzy, and Atreides had to fight the need to tear her clothes apart. His throbbing hardness demanded relief, and he was losing control fast.

Leaning away, Ariel looked at him from under hooded lids, her lips red and swollen, and he couldn’t help but imagine her naked, bared to his sight. Her hand left the nape of his neck and skimmed his shirt, caressing his chest, then following the ridges of his pectorals, she traced patterns with her fingers. Finally, she hooked her hand under his belt, fingers reaching for the hair dusting his lower abdomen.

Her lips curved into a smile when she found no boxers underneath the jeans as if she had expected as much from him. Upon contact, Atreides thrust into her hand that felt like a glove around him, caressing him in time with his grunts, and he caressed her in return. As a second finger joined the first, she grew wetter, and her small cries and moans filled his ears, robbing him of his ability to reason.

They pleasured each other, in a tangle of hands, mouths, bodies dancing to a rhythm only they could hear. Their tongues clashed, and their kisses grew wild. Their touches became unrestrained as their pleasure mounted, rising until only the crescendo building deep inside them existed.

Ariel shattered first, and Atreides cried her name a heartbeat later. Spent, he moved his lips over hers in a more sedated kiss, feeling the need to cuddle her.

Then reality intruded…

Out of the Ashes by Julia Mills

Meet the Guardian of the Zodiac and their companions the Dragon Guard of the Sea! Lost and thought dead, these mighty dragons arise from the depths to not only help to save all mankind but reunite with others of their kind.

The mission is simple – get into the enemy camp, free the humans, return the demons to Hell and return home the victor. For a Daughter of Poseidon and her constant companion, Drákon – a centuries old water dragon, that’s called a good day at work.

Everything is going as planned. Una, eldest daughter and Guardian of Pisces, has checked one and two off her list, and is headed to three when things get complicated. Brody Mason bows at her feet, pledging his allegiance to not only her but also, the gods and the Light. As a show of loyalty, he promises to take her to the portal from Hell and with his own blood help her close the door on the Underworld. This one act will rid the world of evil forever. There’s only one problem…he’s a Hellhound.

It doesn’t matter that Drákon doesn’t believe him, fearing it yet another trick of Hades to deter them from their mission or that there’s fire in his eyes and the smell of brimstone on his olive skin, she can feel the truth in his words. It also doesn’t hurt that with just one glance he sets her heart ablaze and her pulse racing. Not that this is about love or lust, it is all about saving the Earth, protecting the humans, defeating her uncle’s evil…or is it?

One leap of faith leads Una and Brody on a race against time and facing the fight of their lives. Hiding from Poseidon, Hades and an army of Guardians led by her sister, Zoe, this couple may have the best intentions but in the end, isn’t that what paves the road to Hell?

“Hello, Pinkípissa Una. I missed you so when I awoke and you were gone.”

Turning in his arms, she looked deep into the whiskey-colored eyes of the hellhound who’d captured her heart. She loved that he spoke in the native tongue of the gods. Combined with his deep, rumbling baritone and sexy accent, it was irresistible. She couldn’t imagine a time when he wouldn’t take her breath away. Leaning into his embrace, Una sighed as his lips met hers. She opened completely, reveled in the arousal racing through her veins as their tongues danced a sexy tango of their own design.

Desire filled her being, growing stronger, more profound with every second. Whimpering with need at the hellhound’s bold advances, their hearts beat as one as he stoked the flames of want and desire with his every touch.

Spinning their bodies while maintaining their embrace, Una soon found her back against the cool of the stone behind her and her legs wrapped around he’s waist. Her panties were immediately soaked with her excitement as he rolled his hips between her thighs, teasing her throbbing clit feeding her overwhelming need to come. Raking her nails down his back, feeling the ripple of the tribal markings under her fingertips, Una held Brody close, digging her hands into the taunt muscles of his ass to keep him in place.

Tearing his lips from hers, her hellhound nibbled along her jaw and down her neck as he slipped one hand under her bum and pressed his hips tighter to her center while his other hand traveled between her legs, ripping the silk of her panties and sliding two fingers into her already slick pussy. Una mewled as he fucked her with his fingers, turning her arousal into desperation.

Shoving her hands into his long silken hair, the she-wolf pulled his mouth back to hers, and bit his bottom lip before sucking his tongue into her mouth. His resulting growl spurred her on as she rode his fingers with wild abandon, her orgasm careening towards her like an out of control wild fire. The pad of Brody’s thumb found her clit and with little more than a touch Una was screaming her release as untold pleasure spread throughout her body.

Not giving her even a minute of respite, her mate pulled his fingers from her pussy, let her wobbly legs slide down his body and spun her around, caging her in with his own body and placing their combined hands on the boulder before her. Moving one hand from hers and sliding it between their bodies, Una heard the telltale whine of his zipper a second before his lips were once again at her ear whispering, “I must have you, i kardí mou. I must feel you wrapped around me, joined as one. You are mine, Una and I will have you, love you, mark you as my mate for all to see.”

His words ended just as his calloused hand rubbed down the globe of her ass, slipped into her pussy and out again just before the head of his cock slid into her sleek channel. Her nails scratched at the rock as in one slow glide, her hellhound filled her so tightly she felt him in every fiber of her being.

Their bodies fit together like the pieces of a puzzle. His chest was plastered to her back as he kissed her shoulder, whispering of his undying love and their eternity together. Pulling back, followed by a quick thrust that forced fire to rush through her veins and Una was lost to the pleasure. Over and over Brody thrust into her, forcing all thought from her mind, pushing her back to the edge of pleasure she had just fallen over mere minutes before.

Needing to come more that she needed to breathe, Una begged, “Please… please, agapiméni Hellhound mou…” “Yes, agápi mou. Yes. Orycheío gia pánta.”

She couldn’t stop the smile that crossed her lips as he stated she would always belong to him. Their love was so complete, so beautiful, at times not even she could believe how the gods, specifically her father, the mighty Poseidon, had blessed her.

His hands closed even tighter over hers as he growled, “Say it! Say it, now!”

Her body closed even tighter around his as he drove in and out of her with such force the words spilled from her lips, “Yes, yes, agápi mou…yours, always yours.”

Her words pushed some button deep within the man she now had no doubts was her chosen mate. His strokes became frantic. His cock branded her as his for all eternity a mere second before she was flying high, the intensity of her orgasm stealing the breath from her lungs. Sure nothing could feel any better, Una suddenly felt his canines sink into the flesh of her shoulder. The mixture of pleasure and pain shattered whatever control she had been holding onto. Lights, like fireworks, burst behind her closed eyelids. She screamed and moaned and begged. Her nails extended into the claws of her water dragon, one of the many forms that were hers to call, as beautiful, shimmering blue-green scales appeared on the backs of her hands. One final thrust and Brody was roaring so loud the ground beneath her feet shook.

“Mine! Dikos Mou!

Her pussy sucked him deep inside, her body reveled in the feel as he bathed her insides with his warm semen. Una never wanted to be anywhere but in Brody’s arms. The world be damned, she had found her forever Mini orgasms continued to rock her core as his cock slid from her pussy and he spun her around.

Kissing her like she was the most precious thing in all the world, her hellhound lifted her into his arms and walked into the cave they would be calling home while n earth. “Oh, agápi mou, my Una…”

Excerpt

Aware of his eyes on her, she wiggled out of her jeans. Next she stripped off her shirt and let it fall to the floor.

He stood before her in his shorts. Her gaze locked in on his ribbed, muscular chest. She wanted to photograph him. Up close and very personal. Know every inch of him. Rub herself against all that hot, hard flesh and lick her way down his chest.

His throat cleared. “What are you thinking?”

“Huh?”

His arrogant smile ticked her off.

“What were you thinking about? Your eyes got this faraway look and you were rubbing your fingers together.”

“That is none of your business.” Heat crept down her skin.

He took her hand in his and pulled her against him. “If you were thinking about me, then it’s entirely my business.”

His chest muscles rippled beneath her touch and his heart thumped to a wild beat. She inhaled the masculine scent of the wild outdoors. Found herself drawn closer to him. Yearning for so much more.

He tilted his head down and kissed her. Like a man drowning and only she could save his life.

She moaned and pressed against him, wanting so much more.

He lifted her in his arms, carried her to the couch and laid her down. His weight settled against her, and his hard cock nested between her legs. It was torture not having him inside her.

His blue eyes glittered with need as he stared at her. “Do you want this?”

“Yes.” Her breath caught in her throat. More than she imagined, she wanted to be his. Even if it was only this one night.

He leaned down and kissed the side of her neck. Her eyes fluttered closed as his stubble rubbed against her skin. Her body softened while she wrapped her arms around him, drawing him closer.

His fingers unhooked the clasp in the front of her bra, exposed her breasts to his gaze. She was thankful for finding a supplier for that particular style. His lips locked around her nipple. Heat pulsed throughout with each suckle he made.

Her hands slid under his shorts to glide over his taut buttocks. She grasped them and pulled him closer. There was a strength within his body that she wanted to explore. To engage with in pleasurable battle.

He lifted his head, and their eyes locked. His normally light blue eyes blazed a dark sapphire. “You’re beautiful. All mine to enjoy.”

The intensity of his gaze inspired a well of feminine desire to soften her hunger. Their passion was more than just sex. She wanted to be his, to surrender to the ferocity of the need to mate with him.

Outside, lightning flashed and the loud thunder boomed so close that the cabin shook. The storm reminded them of its presence.

She pulled his head down and bit his lower lip. He growled and hungrily took her mouth in a frenzied kiss. His tongue swept in, tangled with hers in tempestuous kiss. Nothing existed but the fevered rush of his touch.

Needing to breathe, she wrenched her mouth from his, gulped in air, and tried to regain her thoughts. “You’re dangerous to my peace of mind.”
