Where Do All The Ideas Come From?

Sometimes I wonder where I get the ideas for stories, characters, and plots. It’s like a bottomless well inside my head where at least five or six ideas swirl together at a time. It can be overwhelming, and I find myself stretched between two, three, or more WIPs. I’ve always been this way. A loner as a child, I had plenty of playmates in the realm of my imagination, and that’s simply morphed into a writer with too many plotlines to keep track of.

Maybe it’s remnants of past lives replaying themselves in suppressed memories, and I’m working out issues I once had. Maybe it’s some kind of mental illness like mania. Maybe it’s a blessing from God. I can’t define it, but I do know that my overworked imagination makes me who I am. And I’m happy with that J
